Strength Characteristics of a Heat-Resistant Metal-Matrix Composite Inconel 625–5%NiTi–TiB2 Alloy Fabricated by Direct Laser Deposition under Shock-Wave Loading

The Hugoniot elastic limit and spall strength were measured for a heat-resistant metal-matrix composite Inconel 625–5%NiTi–TiB2 alloy additive manufactured (AM) by direct laser deposition. characteristics of the obtained from analysis complete wave profiles recorded with VISAR Doppler velocimeter during shock-wave loading samples. samples loaded using PP50 pneumatic gun or ad hoc explosive devices along across material deposition direction in order to determine anisotropy AM under study. maximum shock compression pressure was ~7 GPa, strain rate tension before spalling varied range 105–106 s–1. Kinetic dependencies elastic/plastic transition critical fracture stresses vs. conditions plotted. It shown that study decreases as travels into sample, while increases material’s at moment fracture. A comparison 625–NiTi–TiB2 original 625 has an addition 5% powder based on NiTi-TiB2 leads decrease its upon more than 10%. demonstrates properties relative direction.
